The Still of Night

In the still of night,

You and I,

In a tangle of messy sheets,

Bathed by drifting shades of darkness,

I lie awake watching you sleep,

Shadows like an unspoken sentiment,

Caress the contours of your face,

And gently, repeatedly, they kiss your eyelids,

As curtains sway to the rhythm of your breathing,

The wind whispers I love you,

And I,

I agree.
